I like the idea of straightforward steamed veggies. Tasty, great texture for me to enjoy, healthy, and real easy. But for some reason I just haven't really done it before! Well maybe once or twice, but not that I can remember... So I bought some broccoli and beets and did them up! You can find Bittman's recipe on 263.
The beets started turning the water red which reminded me of some strawberry cream cheese I had in the fridge that I no longer had a use for - so I threw it in for kicks! I also added some random spices that smelled interesting - thanks roomies!
I threw it on some baked (or is it roasted?) squash that I had made before and yum!
