Our Story

Food influences the lives of every person on earth, and its production and consumption are intimately tied to both environmental and human health. Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives: A Food System Approach to Cooking is a class at the University of Minnesota that explores strategies for understanding and navigating the food system in a way that fits into the lives of busy students and uses the kitchen as a place to begin bringing these strategies to life. This blog is a place for students in FScN3480 to share their experiences, stories, recipes, and advice with each other and the rest of the UMN student body as they experiment with new cooking strategies in their home kitchens. If you are interested in food, cooking, sustainability, health, community, and investigating what ties them all together, read on, and enjoy!
