Simmered Brussels Sprouts

This afternoon I stopped by the food co-op on my way home.  I decided recently that I'd like to start eating a wider variety of food.  Along with buying millet and wheat berries, Brussels sprouts caught my eye.  I've never bought, nor cooked, nor really eaten, Brussels sprouts before so I was ready for a new adventure.

I only made enough for one serving, about 1/4 pound, using Bittman's recipe for Simmered Brussels Sprouts on page 546.  I made one slight modification by smashing and chopping the garlic and not removing it after cooking, because I love garlic.  The entire experience was easy and delicious.  I will definitely be buying and cooking these again!
